Travel with a UCalgary cohort to a new setting that takes your learning beyond the walls of a classroom.

Global Classrooms, formerly known as Group Study Programs, are short-term faculty-led, cohort-based programs that gives you experience in the field. It's a UCalgary course, but amplified! Many Global Classrooms are a single theme led by a faculty, others are interdisciplinary collaborations that connect multiple fields and departments.

The highlight of my experience was having the opportunity to explore the incredible biodiversity of a new place while learning hands-on conservation and field research skills that I would not have had the chance to experience otherwise. The experience pushed me outside my comfort zone, helping me become more adaptable, confident, and open to new experiences. It was truly the experience of a lifetime, and has strengthened my passion for conservation and fieldwork as a whole.

Applications open

October 1, 2026 for all programs in the upcoming Spring 2027, and the 2027–28 academic year.

Deadlines

November 9, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. for Spring/Summer 2027 programs.

January 12, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. for Fall 2027/Winter 2028 semester programs.

If any programs have spots open past the deadlines, applications will be taken on a rolling basis until spots are filled, or until July 2, 2027.
